🤩Painting Panels🤩
Yesterday some students from our school were alllowed to go and take part in Marae DIY at one of our local Marae. This marae is one of my whanau marae, so being able to go and see everything that is happening to it was special, because this is the 1sr marae in our area that this has happened to.
There were so many people there doing different things, there were the locals, my nan, aunties, uncles etc that were all in the kitchen making kai (food) for everyone that came to help, there were builders, carpenters, and labourers that were taking the walls, roof and some of the beams out of the whare tupuna, there were people that could drive the trucks, diggers, tractor, and quad bikes that were used to cart metal for the drive, move the old wood that was taken out of the whare, dig a big hole to put the old wood in, so it could be buried, there were people that worked on the road that stopped traffic, then there were all these other that just came to help where ever they saw help was needed, from painting panels (which me and my school friends did), to showing people where to park their cars, to planting out the new plants used for landscaping, and the special people that were in charge of taking care and cleaning the pou that came of the roof of the whare tupuna, and lastly the people walking around taking photos and filming everything going on around me.
It was so good to be able to be apart of this and see everything for myself, I had so much fun and I cant wait to see how it looks when its finished.

I enjoyed reading your story because you hooked readers into reading you writing. I enjoyed how you added lots of Te Reo Maori in your story. The Marae that I relate with from my dad is Te Rito in Moerewa. Did you enjoy helping out? Ka Kite

I wish I could put the photos up on my blog for you to see, me and my friends were covered in paint and we weren’t sure that there was enough for all the panels but lucky the man went and bought some more.
